DR. HALIMA MURTALA NYAKO

Her Excellency, Dr. Halima Murtala Nyako, First Lady of Adamawa State, Nigeria, is a dogged academic, women political leader and renowned health advocate across Nigeria, and particularly in Niger state where she is influencing and impacting millions of people through her advocacy and development support works on Cervical Cancer with recognised NGO’s and multilateral organizations. Dr. Nyako is an astute grassroots builder and supporter of women education, rights and training. She has dedicated the most part of her life working with women facing health challenges, and looking for ways to help improve their wellbeing while supporting their self-sustenance through business enterprise. She is a recipient of several local, national and international awards.

 

DR ALISTAIR SOYODE

Dr. Alistair Soyode is the founder and CEO of the Bright Entertainment Network (BEN) Television; the first and longest running black-oriented television in the United Kingdom and Europe. He is also the Chairman of Nigeria Initiative of Independent Economic Affairs (NIIEA).

Educated in Nigeria and in the United Kingdom, he possesses more than 15 years’ worth of experience in business development and management.  He is the chairman of the Jader-Group which publishes Mobile Tech News (Nigeria’s first mobile telecommunications magazine) and Excel magazine.

As an initiator of the African Business Roundtable (www.abrnet.org), he was instrumental to the publishing of Invest Africa 2004, in association with Alhaji Bamanga Tukur’s NEPAD Business Group (www.nepadbusinessgroup.org). He is also a board member of the NICA organisation. A private sector organisation dealing with farmers and ensuring fair pricing and trade in Nigeria (www.nicanig.org).

He has also negotiated contracts for several sporting personalities and is well known in sports management circles. A much-sort-after speaker, he takes delight in mobilising youths and women to rise up as leaders of tomorrow. Alistair Soyode is a pivotal member of the UK’s black community, bridging the gap between the mainstream and grassroots.

The founder of Nigerians in Diaspora Organisation (NIDO) Europe — a non-profit organisation that draws resources from the synergy of all Nigerian Professionals in the Diaspora, to instil ethical consciousness, and civic responsibility in enhancing the socio-economic advancement of Nigerians and humanity in general.

 

 

DR. NKEM THOMPSON   (MBBS, Dip. Performance Coaching, MRCGP)   

Dr. Thompson is family Doctor (G.P.), a professional Motivational Speaker and Author. Dr Nkem Thompson (or Dr Kem as she is fondly called by many) is a unique breed of medical practitioner: she believes that the human body has within it the ability to heal and repair itself when it is equipped with the right ingredients. Qualified as a medical doctor in 1997, she completed her postgraduate medical education in London, England, and now practices as a Family Doctor/General Practitioner (G.P.) in North London both in a NHS (National Health Service) medical practice and most recently in her Private Medical Practice, The Healthy Lifestyle Clinic in North London.

In 2011, Dr Kem was diagnosed with Breast Cancer. She overcame this disease and has since then become even more fired up about sharing the message of a Healthy Lifestyle, from a holistic perspective, as a way to prevent and treat illness. She delivers talks at events, and recently hosted the successful Health & Fitness Makeover event, ‘Transformed!’ where she taught on her ‘8 Pillars of A Healthy Lifestyle’ – the framework she uses to help her patients, and herself, overcome disease. She is a recipient of several notable awards amongst which is the Motivational Speaker of the Year 2013 at the Annual Women4Africa Awards.

 

MR DAYO OLOMU, MSc, MCPID

CEO Dayo Olomu & Associates UK & President African Business Success Forum

Dayo Olomu is an accomplished motivational speaker, addressing over 100,000 people each year – a coach, business transformation strategist, personal development trainer and best-selling author; a study in doggedness and an example of how anyone can overcome adversity to succeed and thus become an inspiration to others.

Born in Islington, North London, and taken to Nigeria when he was two years old, Dayo got an early jolt in life when, barely eight, he lost his father. NATALIE FREEMAN

Natalie Freeman, Enterprise Manager — manages the UEL student and graduate enterprise support programme. Through delivery of various activities, her focus is to develop the entrepreneurial understanding and enterprise capabilities of UEL students. Previously self-employed herself, Natalie brings a theoretical and practical approach to business support.

 

 

LAURA HANSON

Enterprise Project Officer at University of East London – Laura was formerly Executive Officer/Economic Development Officer at Gateshead Council. Laura’s role at UEL is to ensure the effective delivery of enterprise focussed initiatives, programmes, activities and events for UEL students and graduates. Laura is a qualified careers adviser and comes to this role with over 5 years’ experience in a variety of advisory roles.

 

 

MR BIMBO AFOLAYAN

Mr. Abimbola Roberts Afolayan is Executive Director at J Williamz Limited and Chair of the Central Association of Nigerians in the UK (CANUK)

CANUK is the umbrella body for all Nigerian professionals and associations in the United Kingdom. The Central Association of Nigerians in the United Kingdom (CANUK) was formed by the Nigerian communities and the Nigeria High Commission in the United Kingdom in recognition of a clear need to unite the plethora of Nigerian societies, bodies, unions and associations under one all-embracing umbrella organisation. It is not a paid position but that of service to the community. It ensures that whenever and wherever appropriate, the welfare, views, and community interests of Nigerians in the United Kingdom are represented in a harmonious and organised manner; thereby giving a common forum and united voice to an expression of pride and hope for a vibrant Nigerian community in the United-Kingdom.

CANUK currently represents about 120 different associations and 30 other affiliate/associate members with an initial take-off membership of 28,000. Its membership is growing at a very fast pace and we envisage it will soon embrace the estimated over 2 million plus Nigerians resident in the United Kingdom.

 

 

PAULINE LONG — BEFFTA AWARD FOUNDER

Pauline Long is a Kenyan born entrepreneur, philanthropist, fashion designer and presenter. She is the founder of Europe’s biggest award ceremony for black and ethnic personalities in entertainment, film, fashion, television and arts (BEFFTA). The award ceremony celebrates and promotes the achievements of a very talented and hard-working community often over looked. As a mother and wife she developed a huge passion for giving back which led her to founding Mr and Miss East Africa UK, these pageants encourage entrepreneurship amongst East Africans in UK but most importantly they work closely with East African children’s charities. Through the pageants she started the shout campaign, a campaign aimed at eventually taking children off the streets. At the moment the campaign feeds street children monthly. Pauline also runs their family business East End Studios, which is one of London’s biggest independently owned film and TV studio based in East London and next door to Olympics village.

Mother, philanthropist, entrepreneur, fashion designer, Pauline Long is listed on Black Women in Europe Power List as one of the most inspiring women leader of our time. Host of the popular TV show on BEN Television, The Pauline Long Show, she believes that the number one killer of your positive energy and ability to achieve and reach your goals is ENVY. She will proudly say “Quit walking on other people’s paths as they are already taken. Your own path awaits you”.

Never have we seen a woman who stands out and remain consistently generous, kind, open, hardworking and self-motivated like Pauline Long. She runs a business in clothing design and modelling, and has a studio where she displays her designs so that the public can view them and buy. She reaches out to African communities raising awareness on racism, violence, women development, poverty and how best Africans can unite their communities in love in foreign countries where they live

 

BEN NWANKO

Ben Nwankwo, is the founder and erstwhile Managing Consultant of Leading Edge Academy, LEA, Nigeria. He has over 15 years’ experience in the HR system, seasoned technical insights of public sector work system and a strong portfolio of bottom-line learning and development designs for public and private sector organizational development and human capital infrastructure revolution for transiting economics and holds that only a positive turnaround in HR capabilities can change the performance outcomes of government and organization.

 

 

Kenneth Nkemnacho is a writer, teacher, author, Columnist, blogger, publisher, radio and television host and keynote speaker. He is also a social media and brand positioning expert. He has written and published lots of books and articles. Some of his already published books include Pillars and Precepts of Life, Finding Real Purpose, Envisioning the End from the Beginning, Understanding the Backbones of Divine Excellence, and Triple Steps to Divine Motion.
